Auto Driver Killed by Passengers in Indian Capital Delhi Over Extra Fare: People Made Videos, Nobody Helped Him
New Delhi::(India)::A 26-year-old autorickshaw driver was stabbed to death allegedly by Four juvenile passengers on Kasturba Gandhi Marg near Connaught Place dehli.
The deceased was identified as Jahangir Alam who used to live alone in Joga Bai extension, Jamia Nagar.
Alam’s family including his wife, children and mother live in Malda in West Bengal a police officer said.
The incident took place on Sunday and at about 11.30 pm, a patrolling police team spotted an injured Alam near a restaurant at KG Marg, the police said.
In the video viral on social media passers by ask him questions about his condition but do not provide first aid or take him to a hospital. He was eventually taken to a hospital in a police vehicle, where he succumbed to his injuries.
According to police Jahangir was done for the day and was heading home to Jamia Nagar when he decided to drop a last set of passengers from Khan Market to Connaught Place Dehli. The ride soon turned fatal.
DCP (New Delhi) Madhur Verma said all four accused juveniles had been apprehended and the cops would push for them being treated as adults.
A case under sections 302 (punishment for murder) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC and Arms Act has been registered.
Police said the accused boys had boarded the auto from Khanpur area of Dehli around 11pm and asked Alam to take them to CP.
Before they hopped onto the vehicle, they had decided on Rs 120 as the fare. But as they were approaching CP, Alam told them that as it was pos 11pm, they would be charged Rs 20 extra, per head.
He had earlier told them that he was allowed to take just three passengers but the boys insisted.
