The start of the New Year is like an implied tribute to Elon Musk, the American space entrepreneur and engineer, Iron Man doppelganger, and owner of SpaceX and Tesla. If ever there was a person with a penchant for grandiose goals, it’s Musk. Here are some of the things Musk said he would check off his to-do list in 2019.
Launch spaceship to Mars
Ever the dreamer, Musk has long hoped to herald in the era where mankind walks on Mars. While he may not check this juggernaut goal off his to-do list in 2019, he certainly plans to make headway. Musk said his Big Falcon Rocket test hopper is going to be ready for short trips to Mars in March or April of 2019. This is the beginning of his larger ambition – to send a manned spaceship to Mars. But that goal’s still far off. That’s for next year.
Complete prototype of cyberpunk pickup truck
He also wants to create a cyberpunk pickup truck. Why? Because it’s awesome. And because he can. Not to mention, the truck will be electric, like all Tesla cars, encouraging the world shift to clean fuel. The cyberpunk pickup truck, if nothing else, is symbolic of Musk’s vision, and what seems to be a theme of his life’s work.
“I think it’s important to have a future that is inspiring and appealing. I just think there have to be reasons that you get up in the morning and you want to live. Like, why do you want to live? What’s the point? What inspires you? What do you love about the future?” Musk told CNBC. Musk is certainly giving the world much to look forward to in 2019 and beyond.
With Tesla cars already on the market, Musk is working at hyperspeed to supercharge Europe. He wants to get Tesla car charging stations planted across the continent so that those who own Teslas can get anywhere they need to go. Though the cars are quite expensive, the cost of refueling a Tesla is much less than gasoline.

Dig tunnels for hyper fast travel
Chicago plans to begin construction of a hyperloop that connects downtown Chicago to the airport. This mini hyperloop would be faster than a subway and span 17 miles. There is much anticipation for this to begin in 2019 before a change in city government could derail the plans come spring.
Luckily, that is not the only hyperloop underway. In early 2018, The go-ahead was given from Washington D.C. to work on a tunnel connecting Baltimore to Washington. There is hopes for what this project has in store for 2019. After all, one test tunnel was already completed in December of 2018. According to Popular Mechanics, “Turns out, the ride in Musk’s new tunnel is actually pretty damn cool.”
