Today I want to talk about the most extraordinary city in the world and my home–New York.
NYC has so much to offer, twenty-four hours a day. If you feel like going to the opera early in the evening, later you get hungry for jazz, or prefer to eat Chinese food at 3am–no problem! New York will accommodate you.
NYC is very colorful and rich in culture. Being a financial center, the heart of the Broadway theater, the fashion king and the music and sports center…New York has it all. It’s impossible to be bored.
More than eight million people live in New York City–people from all over the world.
As New Yorkers say: “If you speak English with no grammar mistakes, you are not a true New Yorker.”
New Yorkers are Christians, Muslims, Hindus or Jews, they speak hundreds of languages and dialects. This is the real America–the variety!
Manhattan has so much to offer that many people don’t realize that New York is much more than just a relatively small island of Manhattan. New York City consists of five boroughs sitting where the Hudson River meets the Atlantic Ocean. The five unique, colorful boroughs: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx and Staten Island.
When you visit my city, you will be mesmerized by cosmic Times Square that never sleeps, artistic SoHo, cute Little Italy with its best gelato, China Town–the flavor of Asia. If you get tired of exploring the city, relax on the bench in one of many gorgeous green parks that offer music concerts and movie nights such as Washington Square Park, Union Square, Battery Park or, best of the best–Central Park.
New York City has great public transportation that can take you from one part of the city to another within minutes. If you are not a fan of an underground system, New York has literally dozen of cabs on every street.
If you happen to find yourself downtown, around the breathtaking Battery Park, don’t forget to take a free Staten Island ferry. Enjoy the beautiful boat ride, and take a photo of The Statue of Liberty. And, certainly, if you have extra time, the cruise to Ellis Island will be amazing.
Tomorrow we will talk about NYC some more! I hope you are enjoying the very special fashion week in Manhattan!
