Fleeing inmate, Brother killed by Prison Guards. Investigation are on going at the Kogi State Police Criminal Investigative Department into the death of Lucky Sunday, who was allegedly killed by one of the officials of the Nigeria Prison Service in Ankpa, Kogi State.
The suspect was identify as Suleiman, and others, were accused to have stormed the house of the diseased at Ogene Igah Village in Olamaboro in search of his brother, Goddey Sunday, who escaped from prison custody.
The Prison Officials are yet to be arrested by the Police, investigation revealed that the CID Department were making efforts to convince the Nigerian Prisons Service to lawfully handover the suspects.
Counsel to the diseased family, Tom Adejo, said that they decided to petition the State Commissioner of Police because of the alleged plot to cover the murder by the Prisons officials.
Investigation revealed that, Adejo in the petition, alleged that, on July 9, 2018, Prisons Officials from Ankpa escorted Goddey Sunday, a robbery suspect, to the high court in Okpo for trial: The said Sunday escaped from the custody of the officials due to their negligence, they went in search of the robbery suspect at their family house, arrest his mother and took her to the Prisons Headquarters in Ankpa.
It was gathered that the officials further stormed Ogbole Ameh in Ogene Igah, on arrival they asked the diseased for the whereabout of Godday Sunday? Replied he knew not, they dragged him out nacked from the bathroom and shot him in cold blood, despite repeated plea from family members.
The Police in Okpo who visited the scene, recovered two spent bullets while the Kogi State Police spokesman, DSP William Aya, promised to get details of the case. Meanwhile, the body has been deposited at Iko-Ojo clinic for autopsy. Fleeing inmate, Brother killed by Prison Guards.
