As 2018 closed its doors, I flipped open my notebook and buried my nose between the pages, breathing the fresh paper smell, getting ready to write down what I’ve been dreaming and hoping for. For 2019, there is something bigger than my awareness being born – my intentions to spread the Palestinian cause are higher than before.
Where I live, Palestine, we keep facing sadness and sorrow at the hands of the Israelis. So my wishes and dreams won’t be fulfilled until I see that the prisoners are freed and finally have chances to meet their families. Until happiness visits the young, wounded and broken hearts and to witness a few compensations for children who lost their parents during the continuous wars and the Israeli attacks. Until the rights return to its owners. My hopes in the New Year are demands neither for luxuries nor for more – only for freedom and an end for the illegal siege around us.
Last year was full of experiences that deserve for me to stop for a moment and be thankful for. Meeting great people, continuing my studies and being able to write about the Palestinian cause was the best I lived. The days of setting New Year’s resolutions are over, it’s time to get serious and create what I believe is a truly meaningful, authentic and exceptional life! I will do more, love more and continue doing tiny things like smiling for the kids, helping the old and supporting the youth that may make a difference.
I always remember and keep a touchable quote in the middle of the chaos “In life, you’ll realize that there is a purpose for every person you meet. Never regret knowing someone. Good people will give you happiness, bad people will give you lessons and the best people will give you memories. God doesn’t bring the people we want but the people we need. Some people are there to test you, some will use you, some will teach you and some will bring the best in you. Trust in God and appreciate everyone he brings into your life.” In 2018 this had helped me to move on and writing it down again makes me look forward to a better now and a better future.
I tried to search to understand why peace isn’t settled down on my home country, still hoping for the beautiful, safe and peaceful Palestine. Therefore, my consciousness is reawakened for the year of 2019.
