September 10 is not only the “Teacher’s Day” in China,
but also the 54th birthday of Jack Ma,
co-founder and chairman of the Board of Directors of Alibaba Group.
On this day, Ma Yun issued an open letter entitled “Happy Teacher’s Day”
to announce that one year later, on the 20th anniversary of Alibaba, September 10,
2019, he will no longer serve as the chairman of the group’s board of directors.
Zhang Yong, the current CEO of the group, will take over.
Jack Ma said in the letter: “We believe that only by establishing a system,
forming a unique culture, and cultivating and training a successor
system of a large number of talents can we solve the problem
of enterprise inheritance and development.
For this reason, for the past ten years, we have never stopped working hard and practicing.”
It is on the basis of the new partner mechanism that Alibaba
has formed a unique culture and a successor system that is driven by mission values.
Therefore, Jack Ma believes that Alibaba has “sufficient confidence and ability”
to meet the handover of the chairman of the board of directors.
This also marks the completion of Alibaba’s corporate system
from relying on personal traits to relying on organizational mechanisms
and relying on talent culture.
As for his future development, Jack Ma said he is a restless man
and has many beautiful dreams. In addition to continuing to work
as Alibaba Partner and contributing to the partnership mechanism,
he wants to return to education and will spend more time and wealth on it.
He promised to the public that Alibaba never belonged to Jack Ma,
but Jack Ma would always belong to Alibaba. However,
in the eyes of the public, Jack Ma is always the leader of Alibaba and China’s e-commerce.
