Mary Kom of India became the most renowned female boxer in the world. This is not just a victory for India but for all people. Being a woman in the field of boxing is a real challenge to strive for. Kom won a historic sixth world title in the world championship on Nov. 24.
Being a mother, a wife, and amazing boxer, Kom is a true inspiration. Kom defeated Ukrainian, Hanna Okhpta in a unanimous 5-0 verdict in the 48kg category summit.
Narender Modi the prime minister of India congratulated the bright Indian women over twitter. Having six world titles, she has made world history. Kom, mother of three children, never gave up on her struggles. Before this world championship, Kom tied with Ireland’s Katie Taylor for number of medals won by women.
“I am a little bit emotional today. There is no 48 kg weight category in the Olympic games. Because of your love and support. I feel I will be able to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic. Four years ago. I was not able to qualify for Rio. I am still suffering from that,” she said.
Kom still dreams of winning the gold medal in the 2020 Olympics. She has been really thankful to her coaches and her team to support and teach her in her boxing carrier. India is proud of Kom.
