Love matters can be complicated at times. Relationships can be challenging to handle, but the worst is when one party opts to die or kill as a way of solving a problem. On 19/07/2018, a 24-year-old Kenyan lady by the name Ruth Kamande had to watch the judge declare a life sentence to her helplessly.
Ruth Kamande had hit the headlines twice back in 2015 and 2016. The first incident was when she killed her 22-year-old boyfriend after stabbing him 22 times with a knife. Again she hit the headlines the second time after being crowned the Miss Lang’ ata crown in the Lang’ata Women’s prison in Kenya. They claimed that she was the sexiest prisoner.
This stunning lady claimed that she had found out that her boyfriend was HIV positive. She had found a tiny yellow card from the Aids control program that indicated that her boyfriend was their patient.
She said that her boyfriend, Farid, had told her that if she exposed his status, he would kill her and kill himself. She also claimed that she stabbed him several times out of self-defence.
Justice Jesse Lesiit found her guilty and told the court that this lady had to undergo that sentence so that she may be an example to other youth. While Ms. Kamande tried to say to the court that she had reformed after being remanded for two years, things didn’t go well for her.
The judge noted that Ms. Kamnde wasn’t remorseful and her purpose for the killing was to inflict pain. Her sentence of a death penalty has spread across the globe, and she is expected to appeal to the verdict in less than 14 days.
