The bad weather of recent days, with the strong storms that hit the southern Apennines, has caused a massacre of cows in Sila. Precisely in the territory of Spineto, a fraction of the municipality of Aprigliano, in the province of Cosenza, a few kilometers from Lake Ampollino (on the ridge from Verbicaro to the head of the Ampollino), a lightning struck a tree and killed 7 specimens of cattle. The bad weather continues in these hours and will continue throughout the week entering with additional afternoon thunderstorms, especially in the South.
Specifically, a thunderbolt in the heart of Sila devastates and kills seven cows busy grazing and, at the same time, rips a medium-sized pine.
A horrendous and terrible spectacle, the result of a bizarre summer that is causing all over the continuous cloudburst plateau.
Therefore, the loss of the cattle was due to a discharge that left no way out against a company whose generalities were not disclosed. Indeed, the breeders have informed the police and the veterinary service of the Provincial Health Authority of Cosenza, also in order to obtain a sort of compensation for damages, since, in this area, the cattle are sources of livelihood.
Unfortunately, increasingly violent storms are becoming more frequent in these mountains; indeed, on April 30th, around 5 pm, another thunderbolt destroyed a tall fir tree, damaged two cars and terrorized the condominiums of the “Benemerita” cooperative-building of the populous district of the city’s Olivaro.
