A Police officer and two detainees were shot dead at Igara Police station in Akoko-Edo L.G.A. of Edo state, Nigeria, while three other persons were also killed outside the bank by armed robbers.
The gunmen made their way to the commercial bank in the locality, where four others were also killed.
Investigation revealed that, a gang of armed robbers had robbed two commercial banks in the locality in 2015, leaving at least six persons dead.
It was gathered that the robbers on Thursday invaded the town, in an attempt to rob the Unity Bank and Keystone Bank branches in the area.
The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Johnson Kokumo, confirmed the incident noting that, three of the robbers were killed during exchange of fire.
