One of Kenyan’s most talented anchors Jeff Koinange finds himself in a mess he didn’t expect after an interview in a TV programme. During a programme on Citizen TV, called JKL show, Jeff interviewed COTU Secretary Francis Atwoli and asked him some personal questions.
He asked him to shed light about the rumours that had been circulating that he had an affair with a KTN TV anchor Mary Kilobi. Atwoli confessed that Mary was his new wife. This prompted him to go ahead and ask Atwoli about his prowess in bed since Mary Kilobi was half his age. Hon Atwoli cautioned him about discussing such explicit content on a national TV.
Later after the interview, the owner of the media house Dr SK Macharia received a notice about the unethical code of conduct of Jeff during the interview. Joe Ageyo, the Kenyan media industries watch dog flagged the TV show host to have demonstrated unethical behaviour. He also said that it was a breach to the journalism code of ethics.
The MCK CEO David Omwoyo also cited different instances that Jeff demonstrated unprofessional conduct. The CEO said that Jeff Koinange not only embarrassed the COTU secretary but also the viewers together with their kids. He breached the journalist code of conduct that prohibits asking an individual’s private life.
