Komorebi Post: The current crisis in Venezuela has reached a point where its situation was taken to the United Nations (UN) Security Council, although there are several viable options on the table, the differences between the United States and Russia prevent progress and take decisions to reach a definitive agreement to give once and for all a solution to the great political, social and economic problems that exist in the country.
The United States proposed not only to provide humanitarian aid, as has already been shown to be willing to do, but also to call presidential elections that are totally free and guaranteed, since the main problem that exists in Venezuela is the dubious electoral victory of the usurper Nicolás Maduro, who without a sufficient international presence, the lack of approval of the supplier of the machines and an abstention of more than 70 percent made the results of the elections official, which was in his favor.
Also, it is noteworthy that 9 countries supported the proposal of the United States, however Russia, China and South Africa rejected it completely, where the Russian Ambassador, Vasili Nebenzia, said that if the United States really wants to support the Venezuelan people, let them solve their problems on their own without any foreign interference.
However, Elliott Abrams, who is the special emissary that the US has sent to mediate the situation in Venezuela, stated that despite the decisions taken at the UN Security Council, the country requires actions that must be carried out as soon as possible, reiterating that those who voted against the proposals made by the United States are only “friends of Maduro” and want to take care of the interests of him and his cronies.
Meanwhile, despite the rumors of a military intervention, the proposal made by the United States was to carry out a totally peaceful political mediation, which would ensure a reliable election process and at the same time grant humanitarian aid without any problems like the ones already seen on February 23.
And the truth is that Venezuela is experiencing a situation that only worsens day after day, which shows that the decisions taken to prevent any solution in the short or medium term are just strategies to protect interests and continue to secure the money from the country.
