For doctors, who give everything to save a life, it is common to be familiar with death,
however there are cases where they are regularly overwhelmed by the feeling of responsibility
even though they are caused by factors alien to them, as this is the case of the pediatrician
Carlos Amundaray, who worked in Cumana, Sucre State.
The lack of medical supplies is currently a problem in Venezuela in every corner of the country,
this has made it difficult to attend simple cases, this is where the pediatrician faced this final reality,
where many newborns died in conditions that they could be reversed,
as well as children in the intensive care area where they presented malnutrition
or complications of common diseases that with the adequate supplies had been recovered.
Amundaray colleagues reported how his mental state was deteriorating at the same time that he let them know how the deaths of children, which were almost daily, had left him in a deep depression,
this caused that on Wednesday 29 of August took his life by hanging himself in his house,
leaving his wife and two children.
The shortcomings in health care centers are no secret to the public eye or to the government,
however their lack of attention shows that the lack of inputs is real and escapes the government’s hands.
So what for many Venezuelans is a tragic history, for the government is nothing more
than a news that makes it look bad, that is why it has been responsible for preventing
the spread of this event as they have done with the increasing rate of recent suicides,
all these related to the generalized crisis of the country, these data have been checked by psychiatrists and psychologists.
